Perfil de Pacientes Portadores de Neoplasia Maligna com Acometimento no Sistema Nervoso

INTRODUÇÃO: As neoplasias são um crescimento celular anormal, que invade os tecidos podendo originar metástases para qualquer órgão, incluindo o sistema nervoso. OBJETIVOS: Correlacionar a localização entre neoplasia maligna e metástases com acometimento no sistema nervoso (SN). MÉTODOS: A amostra foi composta por 40 indivíduos de ambos os gêneros, maiores de 18 anos, portadores de neoplasia maligna que resultou em acometimento do sistema nervoso. Os dados foram obtidos através do levantamento dos prontuários médicos, exames radiológicos e patológicos. RESULTADOS: Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que a maior parte da amostra foi composta por homens (55%) maiores de 69 anos (30%) residentes em zona urbana (82,5 %). O local da neoplasia primária que freqüentemente acometeu o SN foi cabeça e pescoço (20%), seguido por pulmão (15%), mama (12,5%) e sistema nervoso central (12,5 %). O sintoma sistêmico mais comumente referido foi cefaléia (37,5%), seguido de náuseas (25%) e vômitos (20,8%). As alterações neurológicas encontradas com maior frequência foram parestesia (41,6%), dor (37,4%), paresia em membros inferiores (33,3%) e distúrbios da marcha (20,3%). CONCLUSÕES: Os pacientes portadores de neoplasia maligna primária de cabeça e pescoço apresentaram maiores índices de acometimento no SN expressando alterações sistêmicas e neurológicas de elevada importância.
