EXCESSO DE PES E GORDURA CORPORAL EM PORTADORES DE SÍNDROME DE DOWN DE UMA INSTITUIÇÃO NO MUNICÍPIO DE DIVINÓPOLIS – MG

Introdução: Os portadores de Síndrome de Down possuem alterações no desenvolvimento físico e mental e podem apresentar distúrbios da tireóide, alterações endócrinas e obesidade. Objetivo: Avaliar a prevalência de excesso de peso e gordura corporal, bem como caracterizar a ingestão alimentar de portadores de Síndrome de Down de uma Instituição de Divinópolis-MG. Métodos: Índice de massa corporal, circunferência da cintura, percentual de gordura e quantificação da ingestão alimentar (registro alimentar) foram utilizados para classificação nutricional.Resultados: A amostra foi composta por 26 portadores, 57,7% dos avaliados apresentaram excesso de peso, 50% foram classificados como alto percentual de gordura e, 100% dos indivíduos do gênero feminino, e apenas 33,3% no gênero masculino estavam com circunferência da cintura elevada (p<0,05). Sobre a ingestão alimentar, 57,9% dos avaliados ingeriram valores acima das necessidades energéticas, já em crianças esse percentual foi de 100%. Alto percentual de inadequação de micronutrientes foi encontrado. Conclusão: O excesso de peso foi prevalente nessa população, principalmente em adultos. Além disso, mulheres apresentaram percentual maior de circunferência da cintura elevada e de gordura em relação aos homens. Introdução de hábitos alimentares saudáveis é medida importante nesses indivíduos.
