Abstract

This text proposes a discussion on the urgent alignment of educational practices and teaching-learning processes with digital culture, aiming to understand how schools can get closer to the real-life experiences of young students. The text begins with the idea of a language crisis affecting education and highlights how the media-digital language of edutubers, booktukers, and other digital influencers has provided indications of pathways for bridging the gap between young students and the school, which still clings to traditional rituals with sluggish updates. The central argument of the text revolves around recognizing the "phygital" - contemporary hybridism and the need for the coexistence of physical and digital artifacts. However, it also warns against the tendency to reduce the educational space to a mere realm of consumption. Finally, it relies on the principles of multiliteracy pedagogy and transmedia literacy as potential pathways for more attentive, ethical, and conscious educational practices in line with the reality of contemporary life.
