SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND ITS POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTION IN “BUSINESS, MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING”

Abstract

Systematic review represents a methodological contribution to organizational research, using explicit and systematic search methods, generating a transparent, replicable process of investigation. Because of the rigor, accuracy and transparency that the technique can add to applied social science research, the present study has the objective of analyzing the evolution and growth of systematic review application in the international context, especially in “business, management and accounting”. To achieve this, a systematic review was performed regarding the term “systematic review” in the Scopus database, using the filter “business, management and accounting”. As a result, the growth of the systematic review in the international context was identified, in which the USA has the highest number of publications. Furthermore, the surveyed authors confirm that the technique brings contributions because of its retrospective nature, critical evaluation, summary of results, and minimization of conflicting definitions related to the investigation of certain topics.
