Abstract

This research investigated the role of personal and organizational values in career choices for young students/workers in the planning and early career stages. Qualitative approach and phenomenological method were adopted, whose data were collected by means of an experience or exploratory survey with the use of written reports and photographs explored through a focus group. The strategies for data analysis were content analysis and subversive reading of photographs. By analyzing these data and comparing them to theoretical data, the identification and conciliation of different points of view adopted by theorists were enabled, allowing also the understanding of the phenomenon due to the association between personal values/organizational values that may interfere with these processes and favor the minimization of possible economic and social problems . Results pointed that personal and organizational values interfere in these processes of choice, establishing relations of complementarity, coherence and unilaterality between these values.
