Living and realize disability: relationship and influence on the perception of a business

Abstract

This paper aims to identify the influence of contact with people with disabilities in deficiency conceptions of a Business studentssample. To achieve this purpose a theoretical review was made followed by a field research with 336 students enrolledin two public college Business courses located in Fortaleza city. The survey instrument was composed by the Conceptionsof Disability Inventory (CDI) and sociodemographic questions. After the descriptive statistics, which served to contextualizethe participant sample, were made the adequacy of the sample and the instrument tests. The inferential treatment wasthrough factor analysis and simple linear regression analysis. The results achieved do not allow the rejection of the raisedhypothesis and showed that living with people with disabilities (PWD) positively influences the sample of disability conceptionsof students.
