Determining elements for the box office success of movies in Brazil

International essays show that the main factors correlated the box office success of a movie are: cultural familiarity, genre, budget, distribution, casting, direction, awards, and critique reviews. This paper analysis which is the impact of these factors in the box office performance in a sample of movies released from 2010 to 2019. The analysis is based on a review of literature and on statistical study. The outcomes show that cultural familiarity, budget and the mix of action and adventure genres are strongly correlated with box office success, while awards don’t show significative correlations.Downloads
