Respiratory physiotherapeutic interventions in patients with post-Covid-19 involvement: A systematic review
Keywords:
Rehabilitation, physiotherapy, covidAbstract
Due to the scarcity of studies on pulmonary rehabilitation after Corona Virus Disease-19 (Covid-19) found in the health database and, currently, many positive cases of the disease in Brazil, it was necessary to produce this systematic review , assuming that, after a period of hospitalization, many of these patients are carriers of different sequelae, and depending on the functional situation, physical therapy will be necessary to restore function in the medium and long term. The surveys were carried out between August 19 and September 2, 2021, in accordance with the PRISMA recommendations (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses), in the databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MedLine/PubMed) and Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) in Portuguese and English. The keywords are part of the list of Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCs) and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Boolean logic (AND and OR) was used. Eight articles were selected, 03 from clinical study, 03 from observational study and 02 from case study. Clinical management in post-Covid-19 patients aims to improve lung function, fatigue and exercise tolerance. Early treatment is not recommended in critically ill patients to avoid worsening respiratory distress and virus spread. The 6-minute walk test (6MWT) is widely used in the clinic, being simple and easy to use, evaluating exercise resistance measures before the start of rehabilitation and exercise capacity after treatment. It is concluded that post-Covid-19 physiotherapy is extremely important for preventing and reducing the sequelae of the disease.
