This work is about Technological Universities (TUs) and about the diversification in the higher education system from the perspective of university rankings. The objective, in addition to bringing some reflections on the social, economic and technological importance of TUs, is to consider the way in which global university rankings impact TUs and the diversification of the Higher Education System. Many TUs are left out of the group called World Class University (WCU) because the evaluations neglect indicators related to entrepreneurial activities and technology transfer and innovation, which are fundamental for economic development by modifying indicators such as HDI, Per capita income or Unemployment rates
