Abstract

This PhD aims to identify the imaginative and creative capacities and cognitive processes related to mental images of blind people. For that, it was based on the Experimental Psychology Treatise, by Olerón et al. (1969) and in the Clinical Method, by Piaget (2015), making the necessary adaptations to be applied to the target audience in question, taking care to privilege accessibility and simple everyday materials in the preparation of test instruments. Such method contemplates the abstraction stages for the search for solutions, as well as for obtaining the results. The analysis of the obtained data aimed to know the capacity of blind people to mentally elaborate graphic copies, transformations of objects and anticipations of their displacements. And the results obtained indicated the need to deepen the knowledge regarding the construction of the mental image in subjects deprived of the sense of sight since birth, for possible consequences of similar construction in sighted people.
