Introduction: It is not uncommon for gestational disorders to appear, which, together with several factors, may result in a negative course of pregnancy, presenting risks to the mother and the fetus. Objective: To describecharacteristics of women attended at a high-risk prenatal Women Care Center (CEAM), as well as todiscuss the role of nursing work in this type of care. Methods: an exploratory research with a quantitative, descriptive approach, developed prospectively with a questionnaire applied to 23 pregnant women betweenApril and May 2015. The analysis was performed in absolute numbers and frequencies through WindowsMicrosoft Excel, with the provision of data in graphs and tables of simple statistics. Results: Among thepregnant women interviewed, 47.8% were between 31 and 40 years old, 16 of them were between the 25thand 32nd weeks of gestation or more, 91.3% presented menarche between 10 and 15 years, 56.5% referredto menstruation in medium amount, 65.2% reported between 1 and 3 important diseases in the familyhistory, 78.3% presented between 1 and 3 risk factors in their clinical history, 4% reported having attendedmore than 9 prenatal appointments and 57% had between 1 and 2 previous pregnancies. Conclusion: Thecenter attends women who are close to or at gestational risk by age, dependents of their spouses or relatives, with a level of education that does not exceed high school and with risk factors both in the family and inclinical history, which can contribute immensely to negative gestational repercussions.Downloads
